When I turned 30, I received a “gift.” It’s not the kind of gift you’d expect, so I call it a “gift.” I started experiencing horrible migraines. It took me many years to understand how much I was going to learn from them and to realize that they were actually a gift.
It was a dark time in my life. They could come at any time; sometimes I would have three in one week. When I had a migraine, I couldn’t work, train, or have fun. All you could do for me during a migraine was hang a “Out of Order” sign around my neck because that’s how it felt.
I tried many remedies, some conventional and some not. I found a pill that helped about 30% of the time. A doctor suggested morphine pills, but I refused.
I would find myself literally banging my head against the wall, trying to make the pain stop.
I started talking about taking my own life because most of what I was experiencing was suffering.
At age 42, I stopped eating grains, wheat, and flour to support my partner, Elinor, on a dietary journey she was beginning. It ended up redefining our entire lives. Three months later, I realized that I hadn’t had a migraine in three months. It was such a relief; it felt like the beginning of a new life for me.
Nice trick, now get rid of the pills
I still had headaches from time to time, but they weren’t a big deal. Simple over-the-counter pills usually worked.
When we moved to Romania four years ago, something woke up in me. I couldn’t tell you exactly what, but I felt that I was reaching new levels of enlightenment. I was realizing new things about my life and existence that surprised me. I felt stronger, more knowledgeable, and more focused. I was surrounded by serenity.
As new understandings continued to come to me, I decided to use them to stop taking pills for headaches forever.
To be transparent, I was having a headache every week or every two weeks, but I was only taking pills for about half of them. Still, I wanted to be free of the pills once and for all.
A little about pain
Pain is not something to ignore or get rid of. It is your body’s way of signaling that it is in distress and needs your help and attention to cope.
If you silence the pain, you will never know when the healing process has ended and your body is back to normal.
If you’ve broken a bone, you know why you’re in pain and what needs fixing. However, if the pain comes from internal distress that is not easily recognizable, it is harder to determine what is wrong and how long the healing process will take.
Consider all of this before taking a painkiller.
My process for dealing with headaches these days (no more pills)
I started developing my own process for dealing with headaches. At first, it was difficult to explain, even to myself, exactly what I was doing. Today, however, I am going to try to pass it on.
Step one - Acceptance
The first step is to understand and accept the pain. Understand that this pain is reaching out to you and needs your attention. Give in to it and accept it to begin the healing process. This will make the pain more bearable and help you move on to the next stages.
Step two - Silence and breathing
Now, close your eyes and try to clear your mind. If you find that difficult, concentrate on your breathing, which is the next natural step anyway.
Slowly become more and more aware of your breathing. Let it take over. Feel as if your breathing is flowing throughout your entire body. Observe the rhythm. Notice the flow of air. Breathe in and out steadily and without effort. Do not force your breathing in any way, and continue for at least ten minutes before moving on to the next step.
Step three - Visualization
Now, focus on the areas of your body where the pain is coming from. Try to explore the pain in your mind and visualize its origin.
Step four - Treatment
Now that you’ve identified where the pain originates, focus on that area. Imagine a compartment around the pain in your head and visualize it expanding.
Do this for ten more minutes. Then, breathe out with effort, open your eyes, and breathe in with effort. Resume normal breathing. Start moving slowly, avoiding sudden movements. Resume normal activity when you feel ready.
Step five - Assessment
Over the next two hours, assess the impact that this exercise has had on your pain. If the pain is not slowly fading, proceed to step six.
Step six - Elemental treatment
Water is one of the four elements. Depending on your age, water can make up 70% to 90% of your body. It is involved in many bodily functions, and we are going to use that to continue this treatment.
Go to a sink, open the tap, and make sure the water is as cold as possible. Cup water in your hands and look at it. Look at the water with fondness and admiration for about 30 seconds. Then, pour the water from your palms onto your face, thinking about healing your headache. Repeat this process seven times.
Repeat the last step every hour until the headache is gone.
If you feel as though this process makes no sense or seems silly, you can watch this video first: https://t.me/usa_news_trump/14954.
Final words
For me, it has been more than six months without painkiller pills. To me, this seemingly simple process is a miracle of understanding and faith, not an unexplained wonder.
As I keep reminding people, belief is everything. If you believe in yourself and the power of this healing process, it will work. If you don’t believe for some reason, it most likely won’t work for you.
I am publishing my method in the hope that it will help some of you.
Stay educated,
Aviram
